This Cookie Policy explains how Climate Data Inc., doing business as Terralyn ("Terralyn," "we," "us," or "our"), uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website and platform. It supplements, and is incorporated by reference into, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Usage Policy.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device to remember preferences, authenticate users, and analyze usage.

Types of Cookies

  • Session Cookies: Temporary, deleted when browser closes
  • Persistent Cookies: Remain for a set period
  • First-Party Cookies: Set by Terralyn
  • Third-Party Cookies: Set by external services

3.1 Essential Cookies (Always Active)

Purpose: Required for platform functionality and security

Examples: Authentication, security (fraud prevention), load balancing, session management

Legal Basis: Strictly necessary (ePrivacy Directive); contract performance (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b))

These cookies cannot be disabled, they are essential for platform operation.

3.2 Analytics Cookies (Optional)

Purpose: Understand user interaction with website/platform

Examples: Google Analytics (page views, time on site, bounce rate), platform usage analytics

Legal Basis: Consent (GDPR) or legitimate interest where permitted

Data: Aggregated and anonymized usage patterns

3.3 Functional Cookies (Optional)

Purpose: Remember preferences and enhance user experience

Examples: Language preferences, display settings (dark mode), recently viewed items

Can be disabled, may reduce functionality.

3.4 Marketing Cookies (Optional)

Scope: Used on our public website only, not inside the authenticated Terralyn application.

Purpose: Deliver relevant marketing and track campaign effectiveness

Examples: LinkedIn Insight Tag (conversion tracking, not ad retargeting), email campaign tracking

Current Status: Minimal use, no ad retargeting

4. Cookie Consent Management

4.1 Cookie Banner

On first visit, a cookie banner lets you Accept All, Reject Non-Essential, Customize, or Learn More. "Reject Non-Essential" is presented with equal prominence and the same number of clicks as "Accept All." We store your choice in the cookie_consent cookie for up to 12 months, after which we will ask again. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.

6. Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT)

We treat a Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid request to opt out of the "sale" and "sharing" of personal information and of processing for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, to the extent required under California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and other US state privacy laws. The GPC opt-out applies to the browser and device from which the signal is received.

Do Not Track (DNT) is not a standardized signal and we do not currently respond to it. Use the cookie banner, the "Cookie Settings" footer link, or your browser settings to manage non-essential cookies.

GDPR and UK GDPR (EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland)

  • Consent required for non-essential cookies before they are set.
  • Clear information provided before consent, and consent can be withdrawn as easily as it was given.
  • Rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection: see our Privacy Policy, Section 10.

CCPA, CPRA, and other US state privacy laws

  • Disclosure of data collection practices via this policy and the Privacy Policy.
  • Right to opt out of "sale" and "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information or cookie data.
  • We honor Global Privacy Control signals as described in Section 6.
  • No discrimination for exercising rights.
  • Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Iowa, Tennessee, Montana, Rhode Island, and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have equivalent rights to access, correct, delete, port, and opt out, exercisable at privacy@terralyn.ai.

Canada (PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25)

Canadian residents have rights under PIPEDA; Quebec residents additionally have rights under the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), including portability and the right to be informed of automated decision-making. 10. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy prospectively. Material changes will be notified by email and in-product banner at least 90 days before they take effect, unless a shorter notice is required by law. Non-material clarifications may be posted with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
